Ohio Massage Therapy Continuing Education Requirements 2026
Ohio is different from many states when it comes to massage therapy continuing education. Ohio does not currently require continuing education for massage therapists to maintain or renew a state massage therapy license.
Ohio massage therapy licenses are renewed every two years. For licenses issued on or after October 17, 2019, the license expires two years after the original date of issuance, with renewal continuing on a two-year cycle.
Because Ohio does not currently require CE hours for massage therapy license renewal, there is no state-mandated number of massage therapy continuing education hours, no required ethics CE, and no state limit on online CE for license renewal.
Massage therapists may still choose to take continuing education courses for professional development, to maintain or expand their knowledge and skills, or to meet continuing education requirements for a professional certification or organization they belong to. NCBTMB Board Certification, for example, has its own continuing education requirements that are separate from Ohio state massage therapy licensure.
