Michigan Continuing Education Requirements

Please understand that massage laws change frequently and vary from state to state. We will try to provide you with the most current information possible.

It is our understanding that Michigan massage therapists are required to complete 18 CE hours every 3 years for license renewal. Of the 18 CE hours, 2 CE hours must be in ethics (such as our 2 CE hour ethics course) and at least 1 CE hour must be in the area of pain and symptom management. CE hours in pain and symptom management may include, but are not limited to, courses in behavior management, behavior modification, stress management, and clinical  applications, as they relate to professional practice. Most of our courses fall under the catagory of clinical applications. If you have a question about a specific course please call us at 866-784-5940 to verify.

For initial renewals completed after June 1, 2021, in addition to your 18 CE hours, MI therapists are also required to complete 1 CE hour of implicit bias training for each year of licensure since June 1, 2021. We do not currently have a course on implicit bias.

Because we are an NCBTMB approved provider, all of our courses are accepted for Michigan license renewal.

You can verify this information or contact the state of Michigan with further questions by visiting the Michigan Board of Massage.

Please note that all of our courses can be used for NCBTMB (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork) recertification, our approved provider number is 409296-00. You may also use any of our CE courses for renewal with organizations such as the AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association) and ABMP (Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals).
