The 12 CE hour Evidenced Based Massage course will introduce therapists to the practice of evidence-based therapeutic massage. Evidence-based massage uses what has been proven or not proven in massage and bodywork to create outcome based goals for therapeutic massage. This course outlines 100's of massage related research studies and discusses the implications for practice.
The textbook is set up in three sections. Section 1 discusses the definition of massage, anatomy of the skin and connective tissues, and the therapeutic and reflex effects that massage strokes have on the body. It also discusses pathological principles of the body such as inflammation, edema, and pain. Section 2 discusses the practical application of massage such as palpation, assessment and planning, and massage techniques. Section 3 covers the clinical uses of massage such as relaxation massage, massage for people with illness, massage for people with musculoskeletal disorders, and massage in sports.
