Muscle energy techniques (METs) are a form of soft tissue treatment that uses gentle isometric contractions to relax and lengthen muscles. Techniques presented can be incorporated into your massage practice immediately! This 8 CE hour course will introduce you to MET; what it is, how it works, and how it is performed. It will explain indications and contraindications as well as MET application for each area of the body. It includes an illustrated textbook and approximately 1.5 hours of online videos demonstrating the METs presented. This course will present:
What muscle energy techniques (METs) are, MET history, and effects on the body
Indications and contraindications to performing METs
Origin, insertion, nerve innervation, and action for each muscle presented
Client assessment techniques for each area such as ROM testing and normals
Explanations and illustrations of METs for the whole body
1.5 hours of online videos demonstrating techniques
