The 17 CE hour Orthopedic Massage home study course will introduce you to orthopedic massage and its related theories. Orthopedic massage applies to treatment of many conditions resulting from activities such as work, sports, or accidents. This course covers many common injuries on all areas of the body and gives treatment strategies for each one.

Examples of injury conditions covered include:

  • Foot, ankle, and leg conditions such as ankle sprains, plantar fasciitis, bursitis, and shin splints
  • Knee and thigh conditions such as ACL sprain, iliotibial band syndrome, and hamstring strains
  • Hip and pelvis conditions such as piriformis syndrome, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and pelvic tilt
  • Lumbar and thoracic spine conditions such as muscular back pain, disc herniation, and kyphosis
  • Cervical spine conditions such as muscular neck pain, thoracic outlet syndrome, and whiplash
  • Shoulder conditions such as frozen shoulder, rotator cuff strain, and shoulder separation
  • Elbow, arm, wrist, and hand conditions such as tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, and pronator teres syndrome

  • The definition and theory of orthopedic massage
  • The basic components used in orthopedic massage
  • Common injuries suffered in the body and how to treat them
  • Traditional treatment approaches for common injuries in the body
  • Physiological effects of massage techniques on the body
